The UT is, as usual, performing very well in the Selection guide higher education which was published last week in its edition 2003/2004. In the field of all universities Twente is immediately behind number one Maastricht, just before Eindhoven (3), but lengths before Delft (12), which is last in its quality of education.

In the guide the judgements of students are combined with those of visitation committees. In addition to education (content and facilities), issues like career preparation, accessibility by public transport, availibility of rooms and sports facilities have been investigated. In all these areas Twente does well to excellent, in contrast to (generally speaking) the large classical universities. The winners among the programmes investigated are EDTE, Communication Studies, Computer Science, BIT, Mathematical Sciences and Civil Engineering. UT-Public Administration and Public Policy shares third place with Leiden, Technology and Management does well among the business administration programmes investigated, Applied Physics is sixth in a field of ten (together with Eindhoven en Delft), and both Chemical Engineering and Electrical Engineering are second in their respective programmes (lengths before Delft, just after Eindhoven).
