Cultuurestafette

The Cultuurestafette is cooperative effort between most of the UT cultural associations, coordinated by the Vrijhof Culture Center and Apollo. The participating associations will present a wide variety of cultural performances. Events cost 4 euros or 2 euros with Union+-card.


Kringzingers & Utopiano: About love, sadness, farewells and desire.

In the 19th century, Brahms, Dvorák, Schubert and Schumann used extra-musical impulses to create new musical forms of Romanticism: the unusual gypsy life, contact with nature, passionate love and the simplicity of the folk song. The Kringzingers (the UT staff choir) and four members of Utopiano perform choral and piano music by these composers.

Arabesque dances `Prisma'

Arabesque will present a combination of various pieces of modern dance choreographed by members and teachers. The choreographers and dancers found inspiration in the theme `breaking.' Like a prism breaking white light into various colors, so dances Arabesque.

MSO: summer concert

For the past twenty years, the enthusiastic conductor Gerard Neurink has led the Musica Sylvestra Orchestra. The MSO repertoire consists of complete symphonies, modern overtures as well as film music.

DVE: `Denk' es, o Seele'

19th and 20th century German composers (Pepping, Distler, Bruckner) are juxtaposed with 15th and 16th century Dutch composers (Desprez, Lassus). Despite contrasts in style, religious content binds the pieces together, each expressing feelings about God, death and the afterlife.
