The organizers, Apollo, Studium Generale and Vrijhof Cultuurcentrum, view the campus as an open-air museum. After all, spread around university grounds are about twenty works of art and numerous examples of modern architecture. Christian Lorist, member of the student cultural umbrella organization Apollo: `I can imagine that many people from outside campus are interested, but often they don't know that the campus is public ground. The culture center suggested organizing a walk. The first day of spring sounded like a nice date to us.'
To motivate people from outside the UT, a Tubantia Club Activity was organized: Tubantia newspaper readers can participate in the walk for a discounted fee. Students also get a discount, with their Union Plus card. Ticket prices range from 15 to 6.75 euros, depending on type of tour and discount eligibility.
If you want to participate in the 90-minute walk, you can do so either accompanied by a guide, at 11:00 or 13:30, or all day-long using an information brochure. Participants can also choose between a brunch or high tea at the Theatercafe in the Vrijhof. Utopiano and other performing groups will provide some classical musical accompaniment. Lorist says, `We want to promote the Theatercafe as a cultural podium for anyone.'
