Boerderij renamed into Faculty Club

The first decision of the year has already been made, reported Anne Flierman last week at the New Year's party in the Boerderij, no, the Faculty Club. The chairman of the Executive Board announced merrily and to the great hilarity of his audience that heretofore the Boerderij will be called Faculty Club again. Six months ago, the sudden change of name was cause for considerable discussion. `Especially when we heard that Dave Blank wanted to resign his new position of scientific director of MESA+, we knew what we had to do,' quipped the chairman. Blank is also chairman of the Faculty Club foundation, which manages the social gathering room Blomzaal among other things. On top of that, a staff association is housed in a farm (boerderij) and the Real Estate Group Drienerlo has its own farm as well. `Faculty Club' is also more internationally recognizable and thus more appropriate than Boerderij. What a relief that the great minds of the UT have come to agreement about this critical matter.
