Bike path behind Horst unsafe

Marcel Weustink, head of UT security, appeals to students and employees - in particular to women - not to use the bike path behind the Horst building in the direction of Enschede after sunset. On the badly lit path, which comes out on the Hengelosestraat, a foreign student was attacked last week by an individual whose identity remains unknown. Students who rode there on that night found red and white tape and police officers. The woman's injuries were not serious, but she was quite shocked. The perpetrator has not yet been caught. Because it is not the first time that women have been attacked or harassed on the path, Weustink thinks it wiser for women to take a detour to the `Charlie´ exit. The UT administration has not yet responded to suggestions for better lighting and security on the bike path.
