Holiday plans: `I am going to Spain with my friends. This is our first visit to Spain and we are really excited. We plan to travel to Barcelona and Madrid and immerse ourselves in the rich Spanish culture for 8 days.'
Greatest accomplishments in 2007: `This past year was a mixed year for me. Initially, I missed my family and friends a lot. But slowly I met friendly people here and soon I had a good group of friends, who became my family in this foreign land. My research is very challenging and interesting, and I love the international working environment here. I work mainly with gold nanorods, which have a potential of being used in cancer treatment in the future.'
Goals for 2008: `Of course, as a PhD student, my main goal is to work hard in my area of research and do work, which is appreciated and well received in the scientific community. I want to visit many places in Europe and meet more people, both within and outside the University. I still have a lot to learn about Dutch culture, and hopefully in 2008 I will be able to do so.'
