Marije Vermeulen creates clear, energetic paintings and murals, referring to contemporary sources such as fashion, architecture, media and cartoons. `I am highly inspired by landscapes.' she says. `Often I make mural paintings where there are loose painted squares placed in front of the wall. This effect creates a kind of abstract world where the viewer is incorporated.' Her exhibition SPLIT opens on December 13 at 3pm. The artisit will be showing her painting skills at the exhibition on December 8 and 9.
