Typically Dutch holiday

| Redactie

Though St. Nicholas and his band of Black Peters made their arrival by ship to the Netherlands weeks ago, the real culmination of their visit for the Dutch is during the month of December, on the eve of his birthday, when the locals settle in for an evening at home to wait for a knock on the door or nearby window. The Erasmus Student Network Twente will present an evening for international students and Dutch in celebration of the tradition of this Dutch holiday on December 3 in the Bastille Atrium. Everyone brings an original, whimsical two-line poem and buys a small gift, costing not more than €5, to exchange at the evening. Don’t be surprised if you happen to see the gray bearded man appear, along with a few of his feather-capped helpers. Subscribe in person at the ESN Office in the Bastille during lunch hours from 12:35pm to 1:35pm, every weekday or online www.esntwente.nl
