`Every year we draw names (lootjes), and for the person whose name you pick, you must write a poem poking fun at the person and buy him or her an inexpensive gift. One year, a friend of mine picked himself. The rules are that you must then draw again, but he did not tell anyone that he picked his own name. The night of the Sinterklaas party, he ended up reading a laudatory poem about himself, praised how wonderful he is, and bought himself an expense Nintendo Wii. This was a big joke on the rest of us and the tradition, one that we found quite hilarious.'
