Greek 'blues'
A concert by Palio-Pará can best be described as an adventurous journey through Greek music, where East and West meet.
Monday, 21 May, 12.35 hr, Open Air Theatre UT (rain: Amphitheater, Vrijhof), f 5/f 2.
There are a number of small ensembles in the Netherlands which have dedicated themselves to Greek music. There is only one - Palio-ParÚa - which has gone a step further: they play and sing their own compositions in Greek style with Greek poetry, but also new texts, which in turn express something of the Greek way of thinking. Besides songs with wistful (very Greek) lines from the Dutch Susan Ligthart, (Pes mou... tell me my sweet, why does your smile no longer reach your eyes...), Palio-Pará has also set works of the famous Greek poet Alexander Kavafis to music.
