Nieuwe ruimte voor bezinning in Vrijhof

De gebeds- en stilteruimtes van de UT verhuizen van de derde naar de vijfde verdieping van de Vrijhof. Daar is nu een tijdelijke ruimte ingericht voor bezinning en gebed. In de zomer moet de verbouwing van de zogenaamde Contemplation Room klaar zijn.

Prayer and silence rooms come together in new ‘contemplation room' Vrijhof

The prayer and silence rooms of the UT will move from the third to the fifth floor of the Vrijhof. A temporary space has now been set up there for reflection and prayer. The renovation of the so-called Contemplation Room should be completed this summer.

Burglary in offices Vrijhof

Several offices in the Vrijhof were broken into last night. It seems that hardly any loot has been taken, but it is the second burglary in a short time in the building. The police are investigating.

Universiteitsbibliotheek is vapende en lawaaiige studenten zat

Studenten die vapen, voor geluidsoverlast zorgen of vreemde teksten op de muur kalken in projectruimtes. De universiteitsbibliotheek ervaart dit collegejaar meer klachten dan ooit. ‘Die één procent verpest het voor de 99 procent goedwillende studenten.’

University library fed up with vaping and noisy students

Students vaping, causing noise disturbance or writing strange texts on the wall in project rooms. The university library is experiencing more complaints than ever this academic year. 'That one percent is ruining it for the 99 percent well-intentioned students.'

‘Ik mis de studenten, de artiesten en de reuring in de Vrijhof’

Voor veel UT’ers ontwaakte de wereld begin 2022, toen we en masse uit de coronaperiode stapten. Voor Tineke Grootenboer (55), coördinator podiumkunst Cultuur, voelt het nog steeds 2020. Bij haar is begin dit jaar kanker geconstateerd. Ze ziet de campus maar sporadisch en vreest dat het einde van haar UT-tijd na ruim 25 jaar in zicht komt. ‘Normaal vlieg ik door die zaal om alles te regelen, nu zit ik daar in mijn rolstoel.’

‘I miss the students, the artists and the commotion in the Vrijhof’

For many members of the UT community, the world awoke back in 2022, when we returned from a period dominated by corona at a high pace. For Tineke Grootenboer (55), coordinator performing arts Culture, it still feels like 2020. At the start of this year, she was diagnosed with cancer. Now, she only visits the campus sporadically and fears that the end of her UT tenure is inching closer after more than 25 years. ‘Normally I fly down that hall to arrange everything, now I’m simply sitting here in my wheelchair.’
