The energy crisis and inflation have a big impact on people’s well-being. Financial fitness is therefore one of the main topics covered during the fourth edition of UT Well-being Weeks held until 2 December. ‘Staying awake at night, worrying about your energy bills, is one of the most demanding and most common stressors nowadays,’ says Jan van den Hoogen from Arbo Unie.
The Cabinet has allocated another 2.5 million euros in emergency funding for students hit by the war in Ukraine. 2.3 million euros will be shared by institutions in higher education and the rest will go to secondary vocational education (mbo).
Het kabinet heeft nog eens 2,5 miljoen euro uitgetrokken voor noodsteun aan studenten die getroffen zijn door de oorlog in Oekraïne. 2,3 miljoen euro wordt door universiteiten en hogescholen verdeeld en de rest door het mbo.
The Ukraine Emergency Fund for students and staff has already raised over 30,000 euros. ‘It does not matter if it is a student from Russia, Ukraine or Belarus, they are all young people working for their future and we should help them.’
The University Council (UC) has concerns about financial situation of UT students during the corona crisis. They ask that the university assists and guides students to resolve their financial issues. This topic was addressed during a digital meeting with the Executive Board today.
The Dutch government will provide a further nine months of financial support to shore up an economy that is still reeling from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, students with temporary jobs are not included in the raft of measures announced last week.
