The University of Twente is starting a cooperation with CONACyT (the Mexican National Council of Science and Technology). This collaboration will allow Mexican students to obtain a grant for a Master’s degree course or PhD research at the UT. At the same time, it will give UT students the possibility to do a fellowship at one of Mexico’s top universities.

CONACyT (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología) is Mexico's entity in charge of the promotion of scientific and technological activities, comparable to the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). The University of Twente is now one of the two Dutch universities officially working with CONACyT.

CONACyT offers grants to Mexican Master’s and PhD students. Thanks to UT’s collaboration with this organization, UT students will now also get the opportunity and financial support to take part in a short stay visiting program (fellowship) at a university in Mexico, such as the Universidad Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM), which is the largest research university in Latin America.
