Introducing the UT and the Netherlands: from 23 nations, the new master's students from behavioural sciences played a cross-cultural game last week. This is one of the activities organised specifically for international master's students. But this year, for the first time, the new international master's students are combining their own introduction with what is organised for bachelor's students.
In full swing at the moment, the introduction offers the cultural societies the opportunity to show off their wares today. On Tuesday the newly-arrived students played sports and had the chance to get acquainted with the sports societies at the UT. Yesterday they got to know Enschede, concluded by a concert in the centre of town, and a party in the student building the Pakkerij. Tomorrow an introduction to Hengelo is scheduled, concluded by a visit to a night club. In addition, the international students are given tours of the different buildings on campus, e.g., the library and the Vrijhof.
Their introduction also includes Dutch lessons and a workshop to get to know more about Dutch society and its customs, foods and peculiarities, and practical matters like opening a bank account and signing rental contracts.
Next week the master's students from behavioural sciences are done as they started a week before the rest did. The others, from educational programmes ranging from electrical engineering and computer science to public administration and chemical engineering will, amongst others, play their own cross-cultural game on Wednesday and enjoy the closing party in the evening.
