The virus raging through wild and tame poultry in the Netherlands may have a consequence to the geese on campus. They form an integral part to the campusÆ image, but are they wild or tame? If tame, who owns them and is therefore responsible for caging them to prevent the further spread of the avian killer disease? The Dutch bird protection says they are tame: no wild geese would live like these do. Also, they are fed in winter, and their nests are occasionally emptied to prevent population growth. The UT spokesperson, after consulting with the Ministry for Agriculture, says wild and therefore denies that they need to be caged.
