In this performance pianist Marcel Worms showcases tangos for piano, and tangos written by European composers after tango music reached Europe at the start of the twentieth century. Almost from the beginning the piano was an important instrument in tango ensembles and many grandees from the tango history, like Osvaldo Pugliese and Horacio Salgan, were both orchestra leaders and pianists. The Dutch contribution to this programme was composed by Bob Zimmerman and Dolf de Kinkelder.
