The planned construction of student housing on campus, which should have started this spring, has been severely delayed.

Student housing authority Acasa will only start discussing the building plans with the UT-administration and the architects involved in a few weeksÆ time. Although Acasa does not plan to make any announcements on the continuation of the build, the realisation of the plans already looks to be delayed by a large number of months.

According to the original Acasa plan one-hundred rooms will be built for foreign students, guests or employees who need somewhat more spacious and fully-furnished accommodation. The rest of the rooms are meant for regular students. Acasa intends to build on the boulevard between the Sports Centre and the Vrijhof, around the Medical Centre and in between the sports fields and the Sports Centre, all conforming to the master plan for real estate on campus. Last spring the entire operation was calculated to cost over 11 million euros.
