On Monday 10 September on the highest floor of the WB-building the official starting signal was given for the international master programme Industrial Design and Manufacturing.
This two-year English language programme is a joint initiative of the faculty of Engineering in Twente and the faculty Maschinenbau at the University of Dortmund. Eleven students from Twente and seven students on behalf of Dortmund take part in the first episode of the programme. They come from a number of countries; China, Indonesia, India, Turkey, Lybia, and of course Germany and the Netherlands.
The first half year is taking place in Twente, after that they move to Dortmund to take the second half year. Focal points in Twente are the subjects Product Design, Life Cycle Strategy, and Manufacturing Systems Design. In Dortmund these are Manufacturing Technology, Production Management, and Quality. The complete second year consists of assignments in companies and universities, partly abroad.
