Participation councils also dissatisfied with governing style CvB
MT involves Supervisory Board
For a while it seemed that the storm had subsided, but nothing is farther from the truth. Both the Management Team (MT), consisting of faculty deans and scientific directors, and the combined UT participation councils have taken positions this week which show that they disapprove of the management style of the Executive Board (CvB). The MT has passed on the criticism to the Supervisory Board in its role as boss of the executive board.
F. Sevenstern discredited
The chairman of the Supervisory Board, Frans Sevenstern, has been discredited. The former chairman of the board of the bus company Connexxion, as reported by the daily newspaper Dagblad De Limburger on 11 October, is supposed to have abused the credit card of daughter company Hermes to visit prostitutes. Hermes Director G. van Zoelen is supposed to have shielded Sevenstern.
Renovation Bastille costs 1.2 million more
The alterations to the Bastille building to make it into a student stronghold are going to cost 1.2 million more than was budgeted. In August the executive board approved the new budget, which is now 14.4 million. By now the University Participation Council has also given its approval.
Waiting list student psychologists
The waiting list at the student psychologists is growing. It is not possible (except for really acute cases) to book an appointment with one of the pschologists within a week, which was house rule until recently. The situation is caused by a vacancy (of 28 hours) which cannot be filled due to the uncertain financial situation at the UT.
Student Desk
On 1 November the new Desk Student Counselling is officially opened. At the desk students can get all information on the services of the Bureau Student Councellors, the Bureau Student Psychologists and the Committee Graduation Support. The desk can be found in room 233 in the Vrijhof (second floor), tel. 2035.
