Islam Khalil, wetenschapper bij Robotica en Mechatronica van de UT, ontwikkelde samen met Michiel Warlé, chirurg en wetenschapper van het Radboudumc, microrobots die door bloedvaten kunnen reizen. Deze technologie zorgt voor een enorme verbetering in de behandeling van vaatziekten, zoals verstoppingen bij trombose of atherosclerose. Het opent zelfs deuren naar een betere behandeling van kanker.

Islam Khalil, scientist at Robotics and Mechatronics of the UT developed, together with Michiel Warlé, surgeon and scientists at Radboudumc, micro-sized bots that can travel through blood vessels. This technology will hugely improve the treatment of vascular diseases, like blockages, occurring during thrombosis or atherosclerosis . It even opens doors to a better treatment of cancer.
