News‘De UT had me in bescherming moeten nemen’
Zijn eigen faculteit diende een integriteitsklacht in tegen UT-onderzoeker Joris van Hoof, nadat hij kritiek uitte op RIVM-rapporten over windturbines. De UT verklaarde de klacht gegrond, maar het Landelijk Orgaan Wetenschappelijke Integriteit (LOWI) floot de universiteit terug. Van Hoof nam ontslag vanwege de affaire, ook al werd hij door het LOWI gerehabiliteerd.

His own faculty filed an integrity complaint against UT researcher Joris van Hoof after he criticized RIVM reports on wind turbines. The UT declared the complaint well-founded, but the National Institution for Scientific Integrity (LOWI) blew the whistle on the university. Van Hoof resigned because of the affair, even though he was rehabilitated by the LOWI.

Spotlight‘Deanship is not a profession, but a mission’
Theo Toonen (69) has worked as a dean for twenty years. First in Leiden, then in Delft and for the past eight years in Twente at the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences. As a university administrator, he wanted to protect the academic values. ‘That has always been my drive.’
