Waarvoor is de UT op aarde, welke rol moet de universiteit in de toekomst spelen en wat is daarvoor nodig? Die vragen krijgen komend jaar een antwoord. Want dan moet de nieuwe strategie, de opvolger van Vision 2020, in hoofdlijnen klaar zijn.

One in eight non-European new Bachelor's students had study problems in the last academic year due to psychological, social or medical circumstances. This is stated in the annual report of the Personal Circumstances Committee (CPO). The committee sees new thresholds for these students, such as money problems and housing.

Engels is ook informele taal bij Computer Science

Voor docenten en studenten van de bachelor- en masteropleidingen Computer Science gelden sinds kort aangescherpte richtlijnen voor het gebruik van de Engelse taal. Van hen wordt verwacht dat ze ook in pauzes en onderling in het Engels communiceren, zelfs als daar geen andere nationaliteiten bij zijn. De faculteitsraad zet vraagtekens bij deze nieuwe code.

English is also the informal language at Computer Science

Teachers and students of the Computer Science bachelor's and master's degree programs now have stricter guidelines for the use of the English language. They are expected to communicate in English during breaks, even if there are no people of other nationalities around. The faculty council has questions about this new code.

UT wil International School voor Twente behouden

De International School Twente (IST), dat Engelstalig basis- en voortgezet onderwijs biedt, verkeert in zwaar weer. De afdeling voortgezet onderwijs is onzeker, omdat het niet genoeg leerlingen heeft om aan de norm te voldoen. De UT wil IST graag voor de regio behouden en onderzoekt mogelijkheden voor verdere samenwerking.

UT wants to retain the International School for Twente

The International School Twente (IST), which offers English-language primary and secondary education, is in dire straits. The secondary education department is uncertain, because it does not have enough students to meet the standard. The UT would like to retain IST for the region and is investigating possibilities for further cooperation.
