'Religion and daily life intertwined'
Growing up in a large Roman Catholic family, Helene van den Bemt was fascinated by the Catholic Church. She regularly participated in her church's youth group, serving as youth leader in her teens. But from age 18-22, Helene attended church only sporadically, because it seemed that there was no place in her life for the Roman Catholic Church. While she enjoyed occasional youth outings, she rejected the notion of joining an organized group. All the while, she was searching for a place for religion in her life.
