Koninginnedag 2007
Do not come to the UT on Monday, April 30, because chances are you will be alone. The university will be closed to join the country as it celebrates Koninginnedag, or Queen's Day. Traditionally this celebration of the Dutch monarchy was held on the reigning queen's birthday. When Queen Beatrix was coronated in 1980, the first law she passed was to hold Queen's Day on her mother, Queen Juliana's, birthday (April 30) for all time. This was especially fitting since Queen Beatrix was born on January 31.
