Carnival parades
For those who are not yet familiar with the madness of Carnival, get prepared to witness as the Dutch cast away their level-headed temperaments. Carnival in the city of Oldenzaal has been a household name in the Twente region for 55 years and attracts a crowd of 100,000 each year. Local residents build floats for months in advance, holding to the tradition since 1954 when the city held its first parade. Known as the `Boeskool City' or `Cabbage City,' Oldenzaal's festivities are on Sunday, 14 February at 12:30pm.
