UT verkoopt ITC-pand aan Rijksvastgoedbedrijf

De UT heeft het ITC-faculteitsgebouw aan de Hengelosestraat in Enschede verkocht aan het Rijksvastgoedbedrijf. In 2023 verhuist ITC naar Langezijds op de campus. Tot die tijd kan de faculteit gebruik blijven maken van het pand aan de Hengelosestraat.

UT sells ITC building to Central Government Real Estate Agency

The UT has sold the ITC faculty building on Hengelosestraat in Enschede to the Central Government Real Estate Agency. In 2023 ITC will move to Langezijds on campus. Until then, the faculty can continue to use the building on Hengelosestraat.

‘Marketing for the planet’

Professor Iain Stewart, best known as a presenter of BBC science programmes, is visiting the ITC faculty of the University of Twente this week. Tomorrow he is giving a seminar ‘Selling Planet Earth’, focused on his field of expertise, geo-science communication. ‘Many scientists don’t like the idea of marketing. My point is: Let’s get real. Accept that’s what we do and get better at it.’

Sugandh Chauhan wins the 2021 Overijssel PhD Award

'I wanted to help farmers using current technology'

Sugandh Chauhan is the winner of this year’s Overijssel PhD Award. The researcher, who obtained her PhD at the UT in 2020, was selected for her doctoral thesis on lodged crops and how they can be tracked down using satellite imagery.

Predicting vegetation health

UT scientist Yijian Zeng and his team, from the Faculty of Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), combined two existing computer models into a powerful tool to monitor the impact of drought and heat waves on vegetation. They received a three year grant from Netherlands eScience Center to further develop and refine their new model.

A royal visit to the ITC faculty today, with Dutch Princess Margriet officially opening the new ITC Centre for Disaster Resilience. The centre is meant to connect science and practice and increase the visibility of ITC as hub for geo-information in disaster research.

Prinses Margriet bezoekt jubilerend ITC

Prinses Margriet opent op 28 oktober samen met Pieter van Vollenhoven het Centre for Disaster Resilience van de faculteit ITC. Dit jaar viert de faculteit het zeventig jarig bestaan. ‘We maken er een inhoudelijk feestje van.’

Verhuizing ITC naar Langezijds vertraagd

De verhuizing van de faculteit ITC naar Langezijds gaat langer duren dan gepland. Tijdens onderzoek bleek dat de constructie van de vloerfundering aanpassingen nodig heeft. Verhuizen in de zomer van 2022 gaat daarom niet lukken.
