That is a simple description of Jeroen Rouwkema’s highly complex research in the field of tissue engineering, a field that aims to one day replace donor organs and animal testing. ‘We are able to 3D print the larger vessels and we are using the natural organizational capacity of cells to create the smaller vascular structures.’
