Criticism of new route towards PhD
Academics who starting working in the chemical industry after graduating can now get a PhD-degree. Utrecht University, in co-operation with the Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI), is developing a new route towards a PhD in the applied sciences. UT-professor J. Engbersen, director of educational programmes at chemical engineering, finds the plan objectionable.
