Het predicaat ‘cum laude’ verdwijnt per 1 januari uit het promotiereglement van de UT. De onderscheiding zou niet berusten op objectieve maatstaven en nadelig uitpakken voor vrouwelijke promovendi.

NewsUT to abolish cum laude distinction for PhD candidates
As of 1 January, the UT will remove the ‘cum laude’ distinction from its PhD regulations. The honour is said to lack objective criteria and to disproportionately disadvantage female PhD candidates.
