Terug in Twente (5)

De leden van het UT-harmonieorkest SHOT brachten een belangrijk deel van de zomer blazend door. Midden juli werden tijdens een repetitieweekend in het Achterhoekse Meddo de longen op sterkte gebracht voor een tiendaagse tournee door Scandinaviƫ. Vervolgens doorkruisten de 64 muzikanten van 20 tot 30 juli per dubbeldeksbus, veerpont en boot forse delen van Zweden, Finland en de aanpalende wateren.

'Terug in Twente' is deze week het thema over bijzondere vakanties van UT-studenten. Geen obligate verhalen over 'kamperen bij de boer' of 'drank, geld & vrouwen - hoe leuk ook, maar over speciale missies op 'een niet al te kalme zee', in het hooggebergte, in een ontwikkelingsland en in Belfast. Studentenleven

De 25 aspirantleden van de Vereniging van Gereformeerde Studenten in Twente (VGST) lieten met de introductie van zich horen door trots het verenigingsblad te brallen (zo heet dat). Traditiegetrouw loopt de Noviciaatscommissie voorop om de nieuwe studenten wegwijs te maken in Enschede. Later op de dag vond de bral-aubade voor het stadhuis plaats, alwaar wethouder De Weger van de ChristenUnie het Twents Volkslied aanhoorde.
