Exploring the culture of Java

The annual Indonesian Evening took place on the 21st of November 2014. The main theme of the event was ´Exploring Java´ and the whole program was therefore focused on the culture of this Indonesian island. Visitors could try to play angklung, a musical instrument, and there were various dance and music performances.

Talented students sign scholarship contracts

The University of Twente Scholarship is a scholarship awarded to excellent international students, who are applying for a Master program at the UT. This year the scholarship was given to twenty foreign students, who all met up on the 18th of November 2014 to sign their scholarship contracts and share their experience from their first few months in the Netherlands.

It came as a surprise to upcoming second-year Communication Studies students: yesterday, they received the news that after the summer holidays, their programme will be predominantly in English. ‘We should have communicated this better,’ agrees Menno de Jong, Programme Director.

For these reasons, Student Union of the University of Twente organizes so called buddy program. This week the Student Union organized a meeting as a start-up for the next season.

Students association offers free Arabic language course

For the first time at University of Twente, an independent student association takes upon itself teaching a foreign language on campus. UT-Muslims Students Association has recently taken an initiative of offering Arabic language courses to interested members of the UT community.
