leuk (adjective) - Searching the Dutch/English dictionary, one finds a panoply of terms equivalent to this simple Dutch word: amusing, cool, funny, jolly, droll, quaint, good, nice, pleasant, fun, calm, decent, great, cute. No wonder newcomers to the Netherlands hear this word in every other sentence with a Dutch interlocutor. Every language has a catch-all adjective denoting a positive feeling; leuk is that word for the Dutch. Be careful, however, when using this word to describe people, as there is an undertone of romantic or lustful interest when so uttered.
