Micronit ends year with award
This year's Van den Kroonenberg Award for Young Entrepeneurship was awarded on the university's anniversary to Micha Mulder and Ronny van `t Oever. These two UT alumni founded Micronit Microfluidics in 1999 and, in less than six years, pushed it to an international top-three position in their field. Frank Schreve, chairman of the University of Twente Foundation, considers Micronit `a gem' of the UT. `They are completely qualified for this award.' Mulder and Van `t Oever already had no cause to complain about 2005. In October they entered the Deloitte Technology Fast 50, a ranking of fifty technology companies with the largest increase of turnover, at thirteenth place. `The entrepreneurial university,' Mulder said, `is anything but an empty phrase.'
