‘Europe should care more about its digital sovereignty’

The US Department of Homeland Security and NWO have launched collaborative cybersecurity research. It involves four U.S.-Dutch research teams – one of which is at the UT. ‘I’m happy about this collaboration, but I believe Europe should not completely trust the US. I’m concerned about the digital sovereignty of Europe,’ says UT professor Aiko Pras.

De ‘Twackers’, oftewel Twentse Hackers, testen dinsdagmiddag om 18:00 hun hackskills in de Zilverling. Ze proberen online beveiligingssituaties te kraken. Ze leren hacken door middel van een spel, dit keer is dat ‘capture the flag’.

UT-promovendus Elmer Lastdrager analyseerde met zijn online securitysysteem Apate zijn 200.000e valse e-mail. Samen met partner Fraudehelpdesk bestrijdt hij sinds een jaar criminaliteit op het wereldwijde web. ‘Niemand is echt veilig.’
